Dr Nuala O'Connor
GP

Dr. Nuala O’Connor graduated from University College Cork in 1986 and is a founding member of Elmwood Medical Practice.
​
She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and has particular interests in women’s health, dermatology, and keeping antibiotics effective for future generations.
​
Dr. O’Connor is currently the President of the Irish College of General Practitioners.

Dr Andrew Crosbie
GP

Dr Andrew Crosbie IMC registered no 14373 a Cork native graduated from UCC in 1990. He completed post graduate general practice training at the college of surgeons in Dublin obtaining memberships of both the Irish and Uk colleges if General Practice as well as diplomas in child health and medicine for the elderly both of which remain keen interests since.
He also spent a year at the National Maternity Hospital in Dublin doing perinatal medicine. Following this he spent some years in the UK as a GP partner first in Cambridge then Norwich and subsequently returned home taking over Dr Michael Dunnes' clinical Practice at Elmwood.
In 2008 his medical partners and himself decided to redevelop this practice and moved across the road to the current building, the aim of which was and is to keep as many primary care specialities under the one roof.
Dr Andrew has many interests which run alongside his clinical work. These include computerisation and clinical IT. He works with the HSE as a network GP involved in the integration of General Practice and Primary Care in the local area , he performs Medicolegal work as an expert witness and also performs Occupational Medical assessments regarding the medical aspects of fitness to work.

Dr Jenny Shine

Dr Jennifer Shine graduated from UCC medical School in 1988. She completed her vocational training for General practice on the Cork Vocational Training Scheme in 1992 having obtained her Membership of both the Irish College of General Practitioners (MICGP) and the Royal College of Practitioners (MRCGP).
Following completion of her training she worked in Edinburgh Scotland gaining additional experience in Obstetrics/Gynaecology. While there she obtained an Advanced Certificate In Family Planning.
Dr Shine holds a Diploma in Child Health. In addition she is experienced in the area of Child Psychiatry.
She returned to Cork where she gained experience in Sexual health whilst working at the STI Clinic at Cork’s South Infirmary/Victoria hospital.
Dr Shine has over 30 years experience in General Practice both in UK and Ireland. She joined Elmwood Medical Practice in 2001.
She has a special interest in Womens Health (Family Planning, Contraception, Ante Natal Care, Infertility)and is a registered LARC (Mirena Coil) fitter and licensed Cervical Screening Doctor. She is a member of the British Menopause Society.

Dr Adrian O Donovan

Dr. Adrian O'Donovan graduated from University College Cork in 1997. He spent two years completing a Surgical Training Scheme in the University Hospital Limerick before transferring to General Practice in the UK in 2001. He was awarded a distinction on completion of his General Practice training in 2004.
In 2001 he moved to the UK to undertake General Practice Training in the NHS. While training he obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2002. He completed his general practice training in 2004 and worked in West Yorkshire for six years.
In 2006 he graduated from the University of Nottingham with a Master's Degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine and worked with a Rugby League Club.
While working in general practice he developed an interest in the management of diabetes and provided community based diabetic clinics.
Dr Adrian has a passion for aesthetic medicine. He trained to the highest standards in medical aesthetics in Harley Street, London.
His other main interests are surgery in primary care, sports injuries and joint injections. He provides a weekly clinic in Elmwood performing surgical procedures and joint injections.

Dr Os Guirguis

Dr Os Guirguis graduated from the University of London's Guy's, King's and St Thomas' School of Medicine in 2000 with an MB BS degree. He then went on to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine and worked up to Registrar level.
Os also has a Diploma in Sports & Exercise Medicine. He studied under the supervision of The England rugby and football team doctors, which was a great experience and afforded him the opportunity to see a wide variety of sports related injuries.
In 2007, Os then transitioned from Emergency Medicine to General Practice. He trained as a GP in Hampshire, England (Member of the Royal College of GP's) and graduated to the position of GP partner in this practice.
In 2011, Os took an opportunity to travel and work in Perth, Western Australia. He worked there for 2 years further developing his skills as a GP in both urban and rural settings. He gained a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of GP's and went on to train GP registrars at this practice.
In 2014 he moved to Cork and has been a partner in the practice since 2017. Os has a broad knowledge of all aspects of general practice. His particular specialties include Minor surgery, joint injections, men’s health.
He performs weekly minor surgery in the practice for the removal of skin lesions, ingrown toenail surgery and liquid nitrogen treatment for warts/verrucae etc.
He is available for 4 days per week at the surgery.

In his free time, he enjoys running and playing tennis

Dr Patricia Ryan

Dr. Patricia Ryan graduated from UCC in 2004 with an honours MB BCH BAO Bmed Sci degree.
Following graduation, she gained valuable experience in emergency medicine and psychiatry in Brisbane, Australia. She returned to Ireland in 2006 and worked in local hospitals. She completed the Cork GP training scheme in 2011 having trained in Bandon and Newmarket and has worked as a GP in the local area since then.
She undertook a number of post graduate studies including Diploma in Clinical Psychiatry, Diploma in Diabetes in Primary Care, Family Planning Certificate, Advanced Certificate in Contraception and ICGP Dermatology in Practice Certificate.
She has a special interest in women’s health, subfertility/infertility and paediatrics.
She is a registered smear taker and is competent in Implanon, Hormonal and Copper coil insertion.
Dr Trish has a special interest in Aesthetic Medicine and Skincare. She is highly skilled in Anti-wrinkle injections and Filler injections. She has completed training with the world renowned Royal College of General Practitioners in Harley Street, London as well a many training courses in Ireland.
She has studied medical grade skincare and is a trained OBAGI Skincare and Chemical Peel expert as well as FDA approved Skin Pen Micro-needling.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with husband Ger and their twin daughters and son. She also likes to play Tennis in her spare time.

Dr Laura Feeley

Dr Laura Feeley graduated from University College Cork in 2012 with an honours MB BCH BAO degree.
She completed her intern year and worked in local hospitals in Cork and Limerick gaining valuable experience. She completed the Cork GP Training Scheme in 2018 and has worked in Elmwood Medical Practice since then.
Dr Feeley has undertaken postgraduate studies including a Diploma in Children’s Health, as well as Certificates in Dermatology, Dermoscopy, Contraception, and the Management of Menopause.
She enjoys caring for patients of all ages and has a particular interest in women’s health, Dermatology, Acne management, Roaccutane prescribing and the care of women during the Perimenopause and Menopause.
Dr Feeley is a registered smear taker and is competent in Implanon, Mirena and Copper coil insertion.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys running, reading, travelling, and spending time with her young family.

Dr Donncha Bonner

Dr. Donncha Bonner graduated from University College Cork medical school in 2006 with an honours MB, BCh, BAO degree
After completing his internship year, he undertook a 2 year Basic Specialist Training Program (Royal College of Physicians Ireland) in Cork and Limerick hospitals, with rotations in old-age medicine, cardiology, endocrinology, respiratory medicine and gastroenterology, among several others. He worked for a year as a hospital registrar in endocrinology and general medicine after the program.
Dr. Bonner completed the Cork General Practice Training Scheme in 2014 as a member of the Irish College of General practitioners (MICGP). During this scheme, he obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology from the Royal College of OBGYNs (London). He has worked a GP since then and he has been at Elmwood Medical Practice since 2022.
Dr. Bonner enjoys treating patients of all ages and facilitating patients with their concerns in navigating the healthcare system, often as their first point of contact with health services.
During his time working in general practice, he has developed an interest in several areas pertinent to primary care, including STI testing, travel medicine and immunisations, and men’s health.

Dr Con Breen

Dr. Con Breen graduated from University of Limerick 2015.
During his studies he moved to Australia and worked in Melbourne gaining experience in different specialties like General Medicine, Paediatrics, Vascular Surgery, Psychiatry, Oncology and Old age & Rehab Medicine. While in Australia he got the chance to represent Australia in the Medical Football Championship for three years.
In 2018 he decided to move home and start the career as a GP Registrar where he developed an interest in sports injuries, dermatology and joint injections based in Cork and Kerry.
Most of his free time is taken up with his family. In any spare time, he also enjoys playing Soccer with his local club.

Dr Maleeha Virk

Dr. Maleeha Virk graduated from National University of Ireland Galway Achieved First Class Honours.
Dr Maleeha started her studies in Canada and was awarded a Bachelor of Science (BSc): General Science in Life Science and Chemistry degree in Vancouver, Canada
In 2015 she decided to move to Ireland and study Medicine in Galway. While training she obtained a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and also Musculoskeletal Injury Management
While working in general practice she developed an interest in the women’s health
Her other main interests travelling and running.

Elaine Drinan
Business & Operations Manager

Having worked numerous years in retail Elaine decided on a career change and went back to college. She graduated with a Degree in Human Resource Management and has been working since then with healthcare professionals providing practice management service to numerous practices in the Cork Kerry region as a Management Consultant to GP Practices.
Elaine joined Elmwood Medical Practice in 2013 bringing a strong quality systems background. She brings with her many years of experience working to ISO and Excellence Ireland quality standards. Her strong quality ethos can be seen at Elmwood Medical Practice from patient services to practice management systems.
When not working, Elaine is kept busy at home with her two young sons. Enjoys running and tennis.

Ciara Burke

I have worked in general practice for 16 years, with the last 10 spent in Elmwood Medical Practice. I am dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care and creating a positive, supportive environment for both patients and staff.
Last year, I completed the Practice Manager Programme with GPPA, further strengthening my leadership and operational skills. I’m passionate about teamwork, continuous improvement, and ensuring our practice provides safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.
Outside of work, I spend much of my spare time supporting my young son on the sidelines of his many sporting activities, and I also enjoy swimming to unwind and stay active.
